FAQs

You may find it helpful to consider the month you’re getting married, not just when selecting a venue, but also when you choose your ideal gown.
October is the most popular, with its cool, clear weather and vibrant fall foliage. September is second, with similar advantages to October. Third is June, the traditional wedding month known for warm, temperate weather. Next are August/May (depending on the source), followed by July & November, with April, December, and March next. Finally, February and January, which may be chilly but perfect for “destination” weddings—think tropical!
Here at Lucy’s Bridal Boutique, we have a curated, yet varied collection that will be sure to meet not just your style and fit requirements, but seasonal and weather-based needs for your perfect bridal gown.

While the timeline for wedding planning is often listed as 12 to 18 months, at Lucy’s Bridal we will help you shorten the amount of time you spend looking for your dress. Venues may require the longest advance time, but when deciding how far in advance to start wedding dress shopping, we recommend 6 to 8 months before your wedding day.

First, when trying on your dresses, always bring your friends or family with you, especially your mom! They will love the experience, and they can give you helpful input on the fit and match, especially from the back.
Second, try on several dresses, including the ones your friends and family like, and please consider the suggestions of Ngoc, who’ll be consulting with you at Lucy’s Bridal Boutique. Here’s why this works: most of us have liked a dress on the rack, only to try it on and find out it’s not our style, doesn’t match our body type, or just looks best on a hanger, not on our bodies.
Third, try on as many dresses as you’d like—Ngoc is there to help you—but if you begin to feel “dress fatigue,” go back to the 2 or 3 you liked best early on. It doesn’t have to be love at first sight, but you should feel some connection to the dress early on.

The easy answer is come to Lucy’s Bridal Boutique first! Owner-operator Ngoc will take as much time as you want to go over all the dresses in the shop’s inventory (over 100) and all the dresses she can order for you if you have 5 or 6 months before your wedding. Plus, several of her designers will mix and match for a small fee, so you could have one style for the top and another for the bottom! One matter of consensus in the bridal industry is to limit your visits to 2 or 3 three bridal shops (please make Lucy’s Bridal Boutique one of them!).
Second, Inventory! Inventory! Inventory! Ngoc has spent hundreds and hundreds of hours reviewing many many designers and their collections. From them she’s selected those designers whose style, quality, and value she can stand behind. They represent virtually every type of bridal dress--ballroom, traditional, mermaid, boho, jeweled, modest, curvy, and so on. More important, their attention to detail, choice of fabric, fit, and finish is excellent. Most are handmade.
Third, expertise. While Lucy’s Bridal Boutique is a relatively new business, Ngoc has over 20 years in the tailoring and alteration industry as a fitter and seamstress. She knows style and how to achieve customer satisfaction. There's nothing Ngoc loves more than helping everyone look their best!
Fourth, in-house services. Ngoc can tell you whether a dress can be altered as you want, how expensive the alterations will be, and what alterations are needed for a perfect fit. Having dealt with other's mistakes, and the assurances by other shops that the alterations will be easy, Ngoc promises to tell you the truth. If you want, Lucy’s Bridal will alter your dress for you right next door at Highland Tailors where Ngoc works in one of her family's businesses. She is the fitter and will fit your dress for you. Ngoc stands behind her work as a seamstress and bridal stylist.
Finally, price. One of the hardest part of choosing dresses to fit every customer's budget is the absolute requirement of delivering value. Tue dresses at Lucy’s Bridal range from $900 to $9000 (all based on what Ngoc has to pay the designer), but every dress exudes quality. Yes, the more expensive dresses are fancier, they are often handmade, they may use Swarovski crystals, and those crystals, sequins, pearls and beads will be hand sewn. But the lower cost dresses also have a simpler beauty with high quality. Please look at the “Our Dresses” page on our website to view all our designers. As one of Lucy’s Bridal Boutique’s slogans states, we have dresses from all over the world, no passport required! And our dresses are made in those countries, not designed in one country and made elsewhere with cheaper labor.
